Scabiosa columbaria L. ssp. banatica (Waldst. et Kit.) Diklic

Flora Europaea

the Linnean original specimen (typical species); even from this comparison it can be seen that the total synonimation of banatica and columbaria is not realistic.

The total synonymation of this taxon to Scabiosa columbaria L. in Flora Europaea is seemingly a total exaggeration. Scabiosa banatica Waldst. et Kit. has a very different flower color (which is constant), different leaves and is a very tall (usually 1 - 1,50m) and very branched plant (in contrast to the usually simple short stems of Scabiosa columbaria L.)
